Meet the students of the Vito Marcantonio Elementary/Middle School
P.S.50 services high-need, low-income families in East Harlem, N.Y. An overwhelming majority of the students’ families are below the poverty line and require public assistance. Like all of us, the students at P.S.50 are eager to participate in after school activities, regardless of the limited resources they have available. And that is where we come in.
Achievement through Athletics (“ATA”) motivates and positively influences the students of P.S.50 both inside and outside the classroom. Modeled after the film “Coach Carter,” daily teacher evaluations monitor each student’s classroom performance and determine their eligibility to participate in a structured after-school sports program. ATA’s goal is to promote education, sportsmanship, and success.
